A new initiative to brighten up the night-time town centre environment has now been completed. The project by Oswestry BID (Business Improvement District) set out to enhance the town’s evening appearance and improve public safety with festoon lighting along Bailey Street, The Cross, Cross Street, Church Street and Festival Square.
The new lighting has been very well-received since its recent installation says BID Manager, Adele Nightingale, with both businesses and residents commenting that the extra lighting has made the town centre feel much safer.
‘It’s a win-win for us,’ said Adele. ‘To improve safety and appearance can only bring benefits to the night-time economy of Oswestry town centre.’ She went on to thank OTC for access to power and Highline Electrical for a great job on installation.
‘The evening festoon lights will be on until the Christmas Lights are activated,’ added Adele, ‘and resume once the Christmas Lights period comes to a close.’
