An Oswestry bid for £16million for the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund

A new Oswestry bid for £16million has been submitted to the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

The Oswestry Regeneration Package covers projects including new public realm and greening works across the town centre, and an extension to the existing town centre commercial shop front and property improvement grant scheme.

The proposals are underpinned by the Future Oswestry Masterplan Vision and the High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) overseen by the Future Oswestry group – a partnership between Shropshire Council, Oswestry Town Council and the Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID).

In addition, this bid includes enabling infrastructure works to bring forward development at the Oswestry Innovation Park at the Mile End junction.

Levelling Up Funding and co-investment in the town centre through public realm improvements and targeted enhancement grants to businesses will look to improve how to the town centre functions, increase footfall and dwell time, with a view to increased local spend.
