Oswestry is gearing up to celebrate its third annual Pride Celebration on Saturday 27th June 2026.
2024 saw the town host its first ever Pride Celebration, which was considered by all to be a huge success. Last year’s Festival was even bigger and better. Hundreds of people enjoyed the celebrations. Many local businesses kindly came forward to sponsor last year’s Pride, led for the second time by North Wales solicitors, Lanyon Bowdler.
As before, the celebrations on 27th June will centre on Cae Glas Park from 10am until 4pm, where there will be live performances from local dancers, poets and performers and a variety of stalls from LGBTQ+ creators, business owners and local groups and charities. The main event will be the Pride Parade through the town starting from and returning to Cae Glas Park, leaving the park at midday.
The Oswestry Pride Committee, a grassroots group of volunteers, said “The first two Pride Festivals surpassed ALL expectations. Last year, over 500 members of the LGBTQ+ community, their friends, families, and allies joined the parade through the town! A great variety of groups performed throughout the day and there were even more stallholders in attendance than last year.
“All the early indications are that Oswestry Pride 2026 will be even more exciting than last year’s event and everyone, whether or not they identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, is heartily invited to come along on 27th June to show their support, enjoy the entertainment, and join the Parade march. As we come together to celebrate our wonderfully diverse town, we look to raise awareness about issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community, advocate for equal rights, and challenge societal stigma, whilst also creating a sense of community and belonging for LGBTQ+ individuals.”
“Oswestry Pride would not be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm shown by the hugely supportive Town Council, local businesses, community organisations and volunteers who come together to make the event a reality. Entirely self-funded without recourse to any public purse, we are hugely grateful to all the organisations who have supported Oswestry Pride in the past – and for the support already offered for Pride 2026 – and we continue to be incredibly impressed by Oswestry’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity. The town should feel very proud.”
